The People We Meet

My new job has introduced me to a new cast of characters. Most of them are men, simply because that's the nature of the business. In just a few short months, some have left a lasting impression, others just a memory.

I met a man who took a car to the Barrett Jackson car auction.
I met a man who dyed his hair orange because he knows he's not going to live much longer.
I met a man who was in the military and served in Germany. For many months he patroled on snow skis. He was a sniper.
I met a man who makes homemade ice cream. With the help of his wife, they create amazing flavors - and never use a recipe. It's rich and creamy and not like any homemade ice cream I've ever had.
I met a man who holds international titles in extreme fighting.
I met a man who gardens. He gave me a HUGE bag of jalepenos.
I met a woman who's heart is so big that she sends packages and cards to people she's thinking about nearly every day.
I met a woman who's learning about Jesus, for the first time.
I met a man who lived in his car in order to pay child support.
I met a man who has an uncanny resemblance to my dad. (My dad passed away in 1999.)
I met a man who is watching his father die.
I met a man who has full custody of his 4 children.
I met a man who makes delicious salsa. He makes enough to share.
I met a man who's speaking voice melts my heart.
I met a couple who still hold hands and drive themselves to the doctor. They've been married for 60+ years.

How lucky am I to have met these people. Some of them have shared their stories with me and some have not. I look forward to each and every one walking through the door.

O.M.G.

I joined the Rec Center. NEVER in my life did I expect to be putting all of those words, in that order, in the same sentence. I'm doing something called "The Lunch Crunch". It's a series of 45 second workouts with a jog (HA!) around the gym in between. Sometimes it's killer. Sometimes it's not so bad. The only bad thing is the time of day. I sweat and my hair goes flat. Ugh. The good part? It's a small group, so sometimes it's like having a personal trainer. Love that. Right now I suck. I'm so disappointed that I've lost everything I had when I was kickboxing. But like I told the instructor - I want to get that back. I want to be that strong again. I can do this.

My Two Favorite Garfield (Jim Davis cartoon) the Cat Posters

"I'm not overweight, I'm undertall."

(Yep, that'd be me!)

"Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

(Oh, so true!)

Christmas 2011 - Celebrating In Black & White (and a splash of RED)

I bought a tree on Craigslist this summer. Sight unseen. I'd say I got pretty dang lucky. It's HUGE and I love it! Not the frasier fir I had picked out (and couldn't afford), but very happy with it, just the same.
Here are a few decorative highlights.

Things I Like To Say

> Just because you can get it on, doesn't mean you should wear it.

> Some of my best sarcasm is wasted on people too stupid to understand it.

> Please don't feel the need to say everything that pops into your head.

> You can't fix stupid.

Things I'm Just Not Into

I've been going through a bunch of saved emails, mostly blogs, over the past week. I've found that people take a lot of pictures of flowers. I feel like a traitor to my gender for admitting this, but I'm not into flowers. At all. I don't own any floral print clothing. There is nothing floral or plant-like in my home. THere are no flowers in my yard. The last time my husband bought me flowers, I got mad at him.

I'm not into angels or butterflies either.

Well, there you have it. One of the random posts I promised in the previous post.

New Year - New Plan

When I started this blog, I wanted it to be a place for me to show what I'd made. I thought it should have "quality" posts. Posts with "substance". But that quickly became a chore. I thougnt I always needed a photo to coordinatewith me content.

But now it's a new year and I have a new plan. If you haven't given up on following me, thanks. I've decided that my random thoughts want a place to be heard. So, sometimes there will be crafty posts and someday there will be posts like the one I'm about to post with a different heading.

Whatever the case, stay with me, and leave comments. I love comments. Even the negative ones.

As for the current background, I'll try to get that changed. Soon. I also have Christmas pictures I want to post.

Thanks for your support. - Susan
